Living Into the New Church:

Taking a Coach Approach to Ministry

What is coaching?

King Solomon said, “There is nothing new under the sun” and coaching definitely falls into this category. Coaching is a simple process that leans upon biblical principles to reap profound results. It is a conversation that allows an individual a place to stop, listen, an consider what the next movement might be towards a positive difference in their life. A coach guards the time and asks questions to facilitate this forward movement.

Coaching is about transformation, and transformation is at the heart of the Christian experience. Most transformation begins with a simple but well crafted question that rings true, deep within the heart and that brings about new action and lasting change.

Through a series of three coach training events you will learn to use coaching skills to help move people and churches forward in faith. The entire curriculum adheres to the International Coach Federation's standards of competency, enabling you to have a clear understanding of what you are learning. Unlike many continuing education events, application is immediate in that you will experience coaching others and being coached yourself many times during the residential workshops, which serve to reinforce learning and transition the skills into real life practice.

Our deep desire is that you will experience the far reaching and wide ranging benefits of a coaching ministry and/or a coaching culture in your church.

Introductory Online Course

This 6-8 hour online course provides an introduction to the skills for coaching and for some models used to give structure to a coaching conversation. This course will also help you discern whether coaching fits with your leadersship style.
